WEIGHT LOSS: The Next Therapy Frontier

Course Description: It’s time for therapists to join the weight loss revolution. 2/3 of US adults are obese leading to further chronic disease and systemic inflammation. Learn to lead patients in weight loss using a structured, reimbursable, evidence based treatment system. Extensive tool kit of assessments and interventions provided. Once you’ve completed the online course, post-course content evaluation and satisfaction survey, you will gain access to our online portal which has our program manual, modules and other documents to use to educate your clients.

Learning Objectives
Participants will be able to:
1) Identify at least three consequences of obesity.
2) Explain the relationship between obesity, chronic disease and inflammation.
3) List the five stages of change essential in creating better habits.
4) Choose the most successful strategies to change behaviors as related to health and wellness.
5) Be able to describe at least two signs of chronic inflammation.
6) Choose and perform appropriate screening/ systems review, and tests and measures for patients with diagnoses of chronic disease and obesity.
7) Design appropriate treatment interventions for weight loss, inflammation and chronic disease.
8) Describe effective, evidence-based, dietary interventions for inflammation, chronic disease
9) Select appropriate equipment based on medical history and functional level.
10) Be able to effectively market the program and utilize appropriate reimbursement procedures.

Audience: This course is designed for OTs, OTAs, PTs, PTAs and others as an introductory level course; however, all levels of experience are welcome as are all areas of practice. 


Statement of Credit Requirements: Completion of course satisfaction survey and completion of course content evaluation with a 70% passing score is required to self submit this course for continuing education. 


Take the course on your own time! Participants have 30 days to complete the course once you receive access.


CEU Credit: This course is 10 contact hours (1.0 CEUs).  To get your certificate, you must complete the post-test evaluation and survey online after viewing the seminar. The certificate is immediately available to print and sent to you via email. Save your certificate of completion and contact your own board or organization for specific requirements.


Occupational Therapists and COTAs: Occupational Therapists self-submit their certificate of completion to their state. Healthe, LLC will provide the course outline and additional information necessary for submission to the specific state where continuing education units are required.


Physical Therapists and PTAs: Physical Therapists self-submit their certificate of completion to their state. Healthe, LLC will provide the course outline and additional information necessary for submission to the specific state where continuing education units are required.


Cancellation Policy: Participants will have 30 days from the date of enrollment to complete the course. If a participant fails to complete the course within 30 days of enrollment they must re-register for the course at full price. If for any reason a participant should need to cancel their enrollment, they must cancel prior to starting the course. In the event of cancellation, a refund will be credited to the participant minus a $20 adminstrative fee.
